Company Overview: Jerry’s, Eugene Oregon’s original discount building material store, was founded in November 1961 by Jerry Orem and his wife Merle. Forty-five years later, Jerry’s has grown from 2 employees to over 500.
Jerry’s opened for business with a 5,000 sq. ft. store. After many remodels and expansions, Jerry’s ran out of space. In December 1985, with just over 20 employees, Jerry’s moved to a larger store, which eventually underwent numerous remodels and expansions, and again Jerry’s needed more room to grow.
In November of 1996, Jerry’s opened the doors of a brand new 350,000 sq. ft. facility and closed the doors of the smaller store. That store was located where the current front entrance drive is today. After many customer requests, and wanting to provide two convenient locations, Jerry’s opened a second store in January 2003.
