Company Overview: Canfor is a leading integrated forest products company headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canfor is the largest producer of softwood lumber in Canada and the largest exporter of softwood lumber to the USA. Canfor is also one of the largest producers of market pulp in Canada. The company employs over 6200 people directly or though affiliated companies. Canfor Wood Products Division operates 12 sawmills in Northern B.C., Alberta and Quebec as well as a plywood plant and a number of lumber re-manufacturing facilities on a wholly owned or partnership basis. Canfor markets its lumber to the USA through sales offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Bellingham W.A. Canfor also exports lumber to Asia and Europe.
Canfor has developed a world-class distribution network supplying the leading Home Center, Pro-dealer, and Industrial customers in North America. Canfor’s product is used primarily by professional builders and framing contractors in the USA. However as the largest supplier of softwood framing lumber to the American Home Center market, Canfor also supplies lumber to the D.I.Y. and Repair and Renovation segments. In addition to dimension lumber, MSR and studs Canfor markets a range of specialty products under the SilvaStar ™ brand.
Canfor’s forestry operations are primarily based in Northern B.C. and Alberta with an annual allowable cut of 9,380,000 m3. All of Canfor’s forest operations have ISO 14001 environmental management system certification in place. Canfor is committed to sustainable forestry management. Currently 73% of Canfor’s annual harvest is certified to either the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) sustainable forest management standard, or to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standard. Canfor is working to achieve third-party sustainable forestry management certification for all of it’s tenures.
Canfor Corporation “CFP” is listed on the Toronto Stock exchange. The main operating company is Canadian Forest Products Ltd., from which the name Canfor is derived.
